Southern Red Oak is a moderately fast growing, large and durable shade tree reaching 80 feet or more in height. It’s shiny, slightly waxy leaves make it well-suited to the heat in the south. Smaller acorns than it’s northern cousins but better suited for heat and sandier soils with faster growth and slightly darker bark.
